The Second Edition of Book Fair Starts in Theni
Experience Theni Book Fair: Discover diverse books, engaging talks, and special events. Open until March 10, 2024. Don't miss out!on Mar 04, 2024
Collector R.V. Shajeevana said on Sunday that the enormous response from the readers' circle last year has resulted in a rise in the number of participants in the second edition of the Theni book fair.
She opened the eight-day fair on the Menaka Mills Ground campus in Palanichettipatti, saying that publications from major publishers and authors were on show.
Youth, particularly those in higher secondary schools and colleges, should take advantage of the fair because reading books outside of the curricula helps shape general knowledge. To encourage kids from government schools, the district administration would offer ₹200 coupons to visiting pupils.
The Collector stated that last year, there were 45 stalls, but this year, they planned to increase it to 60 and had to accommodate 10 more participants, bringing the total to 70. She thanked the publishing houses and others for their presence and hoped that footfall would increase this year.
The School Education Department and Public Library officials said they had recommended operating special buses to make it easier for pupils to visit the book fair.
To engage the visiting public in a constructive manner, organisers stated that they planned to hold talks by patti mandram figures on a daily basis.
In addition, notable artists, writers, and poets from the literary circle were asked to speak at the event on issues of interest to the youth.
The fair will close on March 10.
